Groq, an AI chip startup, is nearing the completion of a $600 million fundraising round, which would value the company at around $6 billion. This information comes from sources familiar with the matter, as reported by Bloomberg. The funding round is led by the Austin-based venture capital firm Disruptive, which has committed over $300 million to the deal.

This new round of funding would double Groq's valuation from its previous round in November 2024, where it raised $640 million at a $2.8 billion valuation. Groq, founded by Jonathan Ross, a former Google engineer, specializes in designing semiconductors and software for AI applications, positioning itself as a competitor to industry giant Nvidia.

The company has been expanding its global presence, recently announcing its first European data center deal in Finland. Groq's technology allows customers to run AI models from their preferred data centers, enhancing the speed and efficiency of AI inference tasks.
