Montage Technology Starts Trial Production of CXL 3.2 MXC Chip
Montage Technology announced in a press release that it has started trial production of its CXL 3.2 Memory eXpander Controller chip. The MXC chip is designed for memory expansion and resource pooling in AI, cloud computing, and data center systems.
The chip complies with CXL Type 3 specifications, including CXL.mem and CXL.io protocols. It supports PCIe 6.x and CXL 3.2, with data transfer rates of up to 64 GT/s. It also includes dual DDR5 memory controllers that support up to 8000 MT/s DDR5 memory.
Montage said the chip integrates PCIe 6.x PHY, DDR5 PHY, dual RISC-V processor subsystems, and management interfaces. It supports PCIe AIC cards and EDSFF modules for memory expansion, memory pooling, and tiered memory architectures.
The company said it provides a software development kit, analysis tools, and testing tools for customers. The CXL 3.2 MXC has been integrated into new CXL products by memory module manufacturers including Samsung and SK hynix, with initial validation completed.
