Google Cloud and Ai2 Invest $20M in Cancer AI Research
Google Cloud and Ai2 have announced a joint commitment of $20 million to the Cancer AI Alliance (CAIA), a consortium focused on leveraging artificial intelligence in cancer research. Each organization will contribute $10 million and provide access to advanced technology solutions to expedite scientific discoveries announced in a press release.
Google Cloud will supply its planet-scale AI infrastructure and data analytics tools, while Ai2 will lead the development and training of large-scale AI models tailored for cancer research. This collaboration aims to create a novel AI infrastructure that allows cancer centers to collaborate securely and effectively, ensuring robust data privacy.
The initiative, spearheaded by Seattle's Fred Hutch Cancer Center, seeks to develop generalizable AI models that can be shared across institutions, enhancing the potential for breakthroughs in cancer treatment and care. By integrating Google Cloud's computing technology with Ai2's expertise in AI model development, CAIA is poised to drive significant advancements in AI-powered cancer research.
