CHAI and NACHC Partner to Advance AI in Community Health Centers
The Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) and the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) have announced a strategic partnership to promote AI adoption in Community Health Centers (CHCs) across the United States, announced in a press release. This collaboration aims to empower CHCs with safe and responsible AI technologies, addressing the challenges of implementation costs and enhancing healthcare outcomes.
The partnership will leverage NACHC's Science, Education, Practice, and Policy (SEPP) framework to build a trusted AI infrastructure tailored for CHCs and other safety-net providers. Key initiatives include conducting research to validate AI tools, developing educational programs to enhance AI literacy, and advocating for policies that ensure ethical AI use in primary care.
Additionally, CHAI and NACHC will conduct a survey to assess current AI usage in CHCs and identify opportunities for innovation. They will also co-design an "AI in Healthcare for the Safety Net" curriculum, available in various formats, to address the urgent need for AI literacy among CHC professionals.
NACHC will join CHAI's tiger team initiative to explore AI-powered tools for streamlining Medicaid eligibility and enrollment, ensuring CHC staff and patient experiences are considered in best practice frameworks. This partnership aims to expand the reach of trusted partners advancing responsible AI in health, inviting Health Center Controlled Networks and Primary Care Associations to join CHAI's Assurance Resource Provider Network.
