FRS and ProfitTrust Launch AI Customs Duty Recovery Platform
Financial Recovery Strategies and ProfitTrust launch Duty Discovery, an AI audit platform for finding and recovering overpaid U.S. customs duties, the companies announced in a press release. The companies say U.S. importers overpay more than $5.8 billion in duties each year and that errors affect about one in eight entries.
Duty Discovery reviews historical import entries for Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification errors, country of origin issues, and other discrepancies. It can seek refunds for eligible overpayments covering up to 300 days by filing Post Summary Corrections with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Companies generally begin by providing 20 to 40 entry summary packets from their customs broker. Duty Discovery provides a written assessment at no cost, and clients pay only after receiving a recovery. Refunds are issued directly by Customs and Border Protection.
