Flexcompute and NIO Partner to Enhance EV Aerodynamics
Flexcompute has announced a partnership with NIO to enhance aerodynamic optimization for electric vehicles, according to a press release. The collaboration was unveiled at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress and aims to combine Flexcompute's GPU-native solvers with NIO's engineering expertise.
NIO will leverage Flexcompute's Flow360 high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) platform to optimize airflow and reduce drag, thereby improving vehicle performance and energy efficiency. The Flow360 platform has demonstrated significant speed improvements, completing simulations 10-100 times faster than traditional methods, and achieving a 60% reduction in simulation costs.
The partnership has already validated over 60 cases across various vehicle types, with more than 94% of simulation cases deviating by less than 3% compared to wind tunnel data. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in the development of smarter and more sustainable electric vehicles.
