ETERC Introduces Ele AI Mentor for Engineering Education
ETERC announced in a press release that it introduced Ele, an AI mentor for engineering education, at a research seminar at East China Normal University. The system is designed to guide students through problems and decisions rather than provide answers directly.
Ele draws on more than 5,000 hours of teaching recordings, thousands of lesson plans, and over 12 years of ETERC work in teacher training and curriculum development. ETERC says it tested Ele in classrooms for several months to refine its support for students and help teachers identify where additional guidance is needed.
The organization developed Ele alongside two research frameworks. Engineering Becoming Learning Science examines how engineering thinking develops through problem solving, while Engineering Becoming Theory studies how students form an engineering identity.
