EDGE AI Foundation Forms Defense Working Group for Mission-Critical AI
The EDGE AI Foundation has announced the creation of its Defense Working Group, a strategic initiative aimed at advancing the use of artificial intelligence at the edge for defense and government operations, according to a press release.
Chaired by Sek Chai, CTO and co-founder of Latent AI, the group will bring together technology companies and startups to address engineering and policy challenges related to implementing AI at the point of data collection. These efforts target mission-critical environments such as remote or bandwidth-limited defense operations.
The Defense Working Group has two main objectives: accelerating technical collaboration for edge AI applications and increasing awareness of these capabilities within global defense policy circles. The group will finalize its initial task list during the EDGE AI San Diego event scheduled for March 24–26, 2026.
Additionally, the Foundation plans to host its first EDGE AI Defense Symposium on May 27, 2026, in partnership with Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.
