DoorDash Reports Only Several Hundred Orders From AI Agents
DoorDash has received only several hundred orders in total from third party AI agents, reports TechCrunch. The company averaged 3 million deliveries per day in 2025.
CEO Tony Xu said during DoorDash's third quarter earnings call that customers still predominantly place orders through its app. "You never want to fight gravity. But at the same time, you don't want to be delusional," Xu said, adding that DoorDash wants a healthy relationship with agent makers and could one day advertise inside their agents. The external agents placing orders include Muse, Instinct and Fo.
DoorDash also offers its own AI ordering tools, including Ask DoorDash, a text ordering agent and a command line agent. It has released a Model Context Protocol integration that lets other chatbots place corporate orders. Retailers are split on outside agents: Amazon blocks personal shopping agents, while Walmart has welcomed them.
