Digihost Launches US Data Centers for AI and HPC Development
Digihost Technology Inc. has announced the creation of US Data Centers, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to developing high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. This initiative marks a significant step for Digihost in expanding its infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for AI-driven computing power.
The first major project for US Data Centers involves transforming an existing site in Columbiana, Alabama, into a state-of-the-art Tier 3 data center. This project will be executed in two phases, with a total planned capacity of 55 MW. The first phase aims to deliver 22 MW of HPC capacity by the second quarter of 2026, with an estimated cost of $176 million. The second phase will add 33 MW by the first quarter of 2027, requiring an additional $264 million. The total capital expenditure for the project is projected at approximately $440 million, primarily financed through debt.
This strategic investment is designed to provide scalable, energy-efficient solutions for enterprises, research institutions, and AI-driven businesses. Upon completion, the Alabama facility will incorporate advanced cooling technologies and sustainable energy strategies, ensuring performance and reliability. Digihost's move to establish US Data Centers underscores its commitment to delivering next-generation computing infrastructure.
