Cognizant has announced two new AI era job categories, Frontier Certified Engineer and Frontier Business Operator, supported by its SkillSpring training platform to prepare talent for AI driven enterprise transformation.

Cognizant announced in a press release the creation of two new job categories, Frontier Certified Engineer and Frontier Business Operator, designed to equip professionals for AI era work. The initiative expands the company's workforce strategy and aims to close the gap between AI potential and measurable business outcomes.

Frontier Certified Engineers will work with client organizations to redesign business processes for environments enabled by AI. These engineers will focus on identifying where AI can streamline operations and improve efficiency. The Frontier Business Operator role will oversee mixed workforces that combine human and digital labor, using AI agents and automation to manage outcomes.

Both roles will be trained through SkillSpring, Cognizant's proprietary platform for developing talent in emerging AI roles. The program includes structured learning paths covering AI fluency, process design, data interpretation, and operational leadership. It is designed to accelerate readiness for associates and supply clients with professionals capable of integrating AI into enterprise operations.

According to Cognizant, the Frontier roles and SkillSpring training mark a shift toward building workforce architectures that support large scale AI adoption across industries.
