Cognition in Talks for $10 Billion Valuation Amid Acquisition Moves

Cognition, the AI startup behind the coding assistant Devin, is negotiating a $300 million funding round, potentially valuing the company at $10 billion. This follows its acquisition of rival Windsurf.

Cognition, the AI startup known for its generative coding assistant Devin, is currently in discussions to raise over $300 million in funding. This new round of investment could value the company at $10 billion, more than doubling its valuation from earlier this year. The funding is reportedly backed by Founders Fund and Khosla Ventures.

This potential funding round comes on the heels of Cognition's acquisition of the remaining assets of its rival, Windsurf. The acquisition follows a period of speculation that Windsurf might be acquired by another major player in the AI industry. Instead, Windsurf's founders joined Google in a separate $2.4 billion deal, while Cognition secured the rest of the company.

Cognition's rapid growth and strategic acquisitions highlight its ambition to strengthen its position in the competitive AI coding market. The company's flagship product, Devin, has gained traction among developers for its ability to automate coding tasks, positioning Cognition as a significant player in the AI-driven software development sector.
