Cisco Study Highlights Global Cybersecurity Readiness Challenges
Cisco Systems, Inc. has released its 2025 Cybersecurity Readiness Index, revealing that only 4% of organizations globally have reached a mature level of cybersecurity readiness, announced in a press release. This marks a slight increase from last year's 3%, but highlights ongoing challenges in the face of AI-related security incidents, which have affected 86% of organizations in the past year.
The study underscores the complexities introduced by AI, with nearly half of the surveyed organizations experiencing cyberattacks due to complex security frameworks. Despite the widespread use of AI for threat detection and response, a significant gap in understanding AI-related threats persists, leaving many organizations vulnerable.
Additionally, the report points to a critical shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals, with 86% of organizations struggling to fill necessary positions. This talent gap, coupled with complex security infrastructures, impedes swift and effective threat response, emphasizing the need for streamlined defense strategies and increased investment in cybersecurity.
The findings suggest that organizations must prioritize AI-driven solutions and enhance AI threat awareness to tackle current cybersecurity challenges effectively.
