China Accuses Nvidia of Antitrust Violations Over Mellanox Acquisition
NVIDIA has been found in violation of China's antitrust regulations concerning its 2020 acquisition of Mellanox Technologies, a computer networking supplier. This ruling was announced by China's State Administration for Market Regulation, as reported by Bloomberg.
The investigation, which began in December, concluded that Nvidia breached both national regulations and the conditions set by China when it approved the $7 billion deal. Although no penalties have been announced, the Chinese agency plans to continue its investigation into the matter.
This development comes amid ongoing trade negotiations between the U.S. and China in Madrid, where semiconductor access remains a contentious issue. Nvidia has stated its commitment to complying with all legal requirements and cooperating with government agencies as they assess the impact of export controls on market competition.
