Israel Adopts National AI Action Plan

Israel has adopted a national AI action plan that includes a National AI Institute, regional labs, 100,000 AI accelerators, a domestic quantum computer, and AI security labs.

Israel has adopted a national artificial intelligence action plan led by the National Artificial Intelligence Directorate, the body said in a press release. The plan was adopted under Government Resolution 4255 and sets a five year program for AI infrastructure, public services, regulation, and international partnerships.

The plan includes a National Institute for AI applications and five regional labs called acceleration reactors. The labs will be tied to existing centers and paired with business or government partners for projects intended for use across Israel.

Israel also plans to build a national computing base of at least 100,000 advanced AI accelerators. The initial phase includes 5,000 accelerators, a domestic quantum computer, and work toward an advanced chip fabrication facility at 5 nanometer technology or below.

The strategy also calls for AI security labs with Israel's National Cyber Directorate and a National Ethics Council focused on algorithmic transparency, fairness, and privacy in public services.
