Bosch Secures $225 Million from U.S. Commerce Department for Roseville Chip Plant
Bosch announced in a press release an agreement with the Trump Administration for up to $225 million in direct funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce through its CHIPS Program Office. The funding supports Bosch's plan to invest up to $2 billion in transforming its Roseville, California facility for silicon carbide semiconductor production.
The Roseville site, with more than four decades of semiconductor manufacturing experience, is being upgraded with new processes and equipment to produce and test silicon carbide chips. Bosch has already started sample production at the facility.
The company expects to begin commercial manufacturing in the United States in 2026, three years after acquiring the Roseville site. The first commercial chips will be produced on 200 millimeter wafers using Bosch silicon carbide technology.
