Blue Water Autonomy Unveils Autonomous Ship Plans with $14M Funding
Blue Water Autonomy, Inc. has emerged from stealth mode, announcing $14 million in seed funding to develop autonomous ships for the U.S. Navy, announced in a press release. The funding round was led by venture capital firms including Eclipse, Riot, and Impatient Ventures.
Founded in 2024 by former leaders from Amazon Robotics, iRobot, and the U.S. Navy, Blue Water Autonomy is focused on creating a fully unmanned and highly producible ship capable of serving multiple missions on the open ocean. The company has already developed a full-stack autonomy suite, commenced salt-water testing, and created concept ship designs.
With the new funding, Blue Water Autonomy plans to expand its engineering team, accelerate ship testing, and integrate various payloads onto its platform. The company aims to support the U.S. Navy by providing innovative, autonomous warships that can operate alongside traditional crewed vessels, enhancing the Navy's capabilities in response to global geopolitical tensions.
