Booz Allen Ventures Expands Investment Fund to $300 Million
Booz Allen Ventures, the venture capital arm of Booz Allen Hamilton, has expanded its investment fund to $300 million. This move triples the initial commitment made when the unit was launched in 2022 with $100 million. The expanded fund aims to support up to 25 startups over the next five years, focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, autonomous technology, space, and quantum computing.
The decision to increase the fund comes as Booz Allen Ventures seeks to compete with international counterparts, particularly those in China, which are heavily investing in similar technology sectors. The venture arm has already invested in 17 companies, including Hidden Level, a developer of drone detection technology, and Reality Defender, a provider of deep fake and AI detection software.
Booz Allen Ventures plans to collaborate with domestic venture capital funds to foster innovation and maintain a competitive edge in the global technology landscape. The expansion reflects the company's commitment to bringing advanced commercial technologies to essential national defense missions.
