Baidu Responds to U.S. Defense Department Listing as Chinese Military Company

June 09, 2026
Baidu stated it should not have been included on the U.S. Department of Defense's list of Chinese Military Companies, saying the designation is unjustified and will not affect its business or securities.

Baidu said it was added to the U.S. Department of Defense's list of Chinese Military Companies, according to a press release. The company stated it is not a military company and does not contribute to China's defense industrial base.

Baidu emphasized that the list is not a sanctions list and that procurement restrictions tied to it will not impact its operations. The company also noted that the inclusion does not restrict trading of its securities on public markets.

The notice was issued by the Deputy Secretary of Defense as part of the department's Designation of Chinese Military Companies under U.S. law.
