Anthropic has launched new features for its AI chatbot, Claude, including app integrations and an advanced research tool. These updates are available in beta for subscribers to Claude Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, with Pro access coming soon. The new app connection feature, called Integrations, allows users to connect Claude to various apps and tools, enhancing its capabilities. Initial partners include Atlassian, Zapier, Cloudflare, Intercom, Square, and PayPal.

Integrations utilize Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling AI models to draw data from business tools, content repositories, and app development environments. This allows developers to create and host app servers that enhance Claude's capabilities. For instance, the Atlassian Integration lets Claude summarize and create pages in Confluence, while the Zapier Integration connects Claude to app automation workflows.

The Advanced Research tool allows Claude to perform comprehensive research by crawling hundreds of internal and external sources. This feature can deliver detailed reports in five to 45 minutes, leveraging Claude's expanded connectors to search across Integrations and MCP-connected local drives. The tool provides clear citations linking directly to original materials, enhancing the depth and accuracy of research outputs.
