Anthropic Acquires Bun to Boost Claude Code Performance
Anthropic has acquired Bun, a developer tool startup, announced in a press release. The acquisition follows the rapid growth of Claude Code, which reached $1 billion in annualized revenue six months after its public release.
Founded in 2021 by Jarred Sumner, Bun is an all-in-one JavaScript toolkit that combines runtime, package manager, bundler, and test runner functions. The software is known for improving speed and reliability in modern software development and has over seven million monthly downloads. Bun will remain open source under the MIT license.
Anthropic stated that integrating Bun will improve Claude Code’s performance and stability, offering faster execution and better workflows for developers. The Bun team will join Anthropic to continue developing its technology while supporting Claude Code’s infrastructure.
The company said Bun has been instrumental in scaling Claude Code since its launch and will continue to underpin the platform’s developer-focused capabilities as Anthropic expands its enterprise AI offerings.
