xAI Partners with Telegram to Integrate Grok Chatbot

xAI will pay Telegram $300 million to integrate its Grok chatbot into the messaging app, allowing access to over a billion users.

Telegram has partnered with xAI, Elon Musk's AI company, to integrate the Grok chatbot into its messaging platform. As announced by Telegram's CEO Pavel Durov, the deal involves xAI paying $300 million in cash and equity to Telegram, along with sharing 50% of the revenue from xAI subscriptions purchased through the app.

The partnership will last for one year, during which Grok will be accessible to Telegram's extensive user base of over a billion people. This integration will allow users to pin Grok at the top of chats and interact with it via the search bar, offering functionalities such as writing suggestions, chat summarization, and business query responses.

The collaboration aims to leverage Telegram's vast user network to enhance Grok's reach and utility, while also providing xAI with valuable user interaction data to further develop its AI models. Grok, which is already available to Telegram's premium users, is expected to be rolled out to all users by the summer.
