Tata Elxsi and Garuda Aerospace Collaborate on Indigenous UAV Development

Tata Elxsi and Garuda Aerospace have signed an MoU at Aero India 2025 to establish a Centre of Excellence for UAV design and development, focusing on indigenous solutions for defense, agriculture, and smart cities.

Tata Elxsi and Garuda Aerospace have announced a strategic partnership at Aero India 2025, aimed at advancing the development of indigenous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The collaboration focuses on creating a Centre of Excellence dedicated to UAV design, engineering, and certification, supporting India's 'Make in India' initiative.

The partnership will leverage Tata Elxsi's expertise in avionics, miniaturization, and secured communication to enhance UAV efficiency. By integrating AI-driven solutions, the initiative aims to reduce energy consumption by 20% and cut costs by over 20%, while accelerating development cycles by up to six months. This effort will establish a 100% indigenous vendor ecosystem, minimizing reliance on imports.

Garuda Aerospace will lead business acquisition and delivery, focusing on applications such as payload management, goods delivery, and precision agriculture. The Indian defense forces and Border Security Force are expected to benefit significantly from these advancements, gaining access to cutting-edge UAV capabilities.

This collaboration not only aims to strengthen India's defense ecosystem but also promises to create new employment opportunities and contribute to workforce development in the aerospace sector.
