Seneca Launches with $60 Million for AI-Powered Wildfire Defense Systems
Seneca has launched publicly with $60 million in funding to develop AI-powered autonomous aerial systems for wildfire defense, announced in a press release. The round, led by Caffeinated Capital and Convective Capital, is described as the largest venture capital investment in fire technology to date.
Seneca's technology includes autonomous drones capable of carrying over 100 pounds of suppressant, operating at more than 100 PSI, and launching remotely to attack fires within ten minutes of detection. Using AI to navigate and target flames, the drones aim to stop fires before they spread. The systems also support prescribed burns and fuel reduction efforts for year-round fire management.
The company developed its technology in collaboration with fire agencies such as San Bernardino County Fire and Aspen Fire Department. Its advisory board features former U.S. Fire Administrator Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell and other senior fire service leaders. Seneca plans to use the funding to enhance system capabilities, increase production, and deploy initial units in the field for the 2026 fire season.
