Wellinks Raises $10 Million for Predictive Cardiopulmonary Care
Wellinks has closed the first $10 million tranche of its Series B funding round with participation from UMass Memorial Health and existing investors, announced in a press release.
The New Haven company provides cardiopulmonary care through its Spire remote patient monitoring system, which is cleared by the FDA. The system tracks physiologic changes linked to clinical deterioration and supports earlier intervention for patients with chronic respiratory disease.
Wellinks plans to use the funding to expand commercial operations, reach more patient groups, and extend its care model into additional cardiopulmonary conditions, including congestive heart failure. The company also plans to improve its predictive capabilities using clinical data from its care programs.
Wellinks and UMass Chan Medical School previously worked on the Healthy at Home program for COPD patients. The study found that participants had more than 60 percent lower odds of hospital readmission within 30 days, with trends toward fewer emergency department visits and shorter hospital stays.
