Ping Identity Survey Finds 3% Comfortable With Autonomous AI Transactions

Oct 6, 2026
A survey of 11,000 consumers found that comfort with AI declines sharply when systems move from offering assistance to taking action.

Ping Identity said in a press release that 3% of consumers are comfortable with AI completing routine actions or transactions without final approval. The survey found that 5% are comfortable with AI taking action with their approval, while 56% accept AI for support or recommendations.

Only 12% of respondents fully trust organizations to manage their identity data, down from 17% in 2025. Among respondents, 42% would limit an AI agent to spending no more than $100, while 22% would not allow it to make any financial transactions.

The survey also found that 56% consider disclosure of AI use more important than receiving the fastest result. Another 20% would leave a website immediately if they suspected undisclosed AI use, and 20% would avoid the brand in the future.

Comfort with independent AI decisions varied by country, reaching 70% in India and 61% in Indonesia. The figure was 21% in Sweden, 19% in the Netherlands and 18% in Australia. Talker Research surveyed 11,000 consumers across 12 countries for the study.
