OpenAI Teases Imminent Launch of GPT-5
OpenAI is preparing to unveil its latest AI model, GPT-5, with a launch event scheduled for this Thursday. The announcement was hinted at in a recent post on X, where the company used the phrase 'LIVE5TREAM THURSDAY 10AM PT,' cleverly replacing the 's' with a '5' to suggest the upcoming release of GPT-5.
Early testers of GPT-5 have expressed their admiration for its coding and problem-solving abilities, although they noted that the leap from GPT-4 to GPT-5 may not be as significant as previous upgrades. Despite these challenges, OpenAI continues to invest in 'test-time compute' to handle complex tasks, as stated by CEO Sam Altman.
The release of GPT-5 is highly anticipated, following the success of its predecessor, GPT-4, which was known for its increased compute power and data capabilities. OpenAI's efforts to scale up have faced hurdles, particularly in data availability, but the company remains committed to advancing its AI technology.
