OpenAI CEO Sam Altman met with White House officials and members of Congress following President Donald Trump's executive order on AI oversight, and will attend the G7 conference in France later this month at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman met with officials at the White House and bipartisan members of the US Congress, reports CNBC. The meetings followed President Donald Trump's executive order establishing a voluntary framework where advanced AI models undergo a 30-day government review before public release. Altman voiced support for the measure, calling it a balanced approach to AI oversight.

According to Politico, Altman discussed AI safety policy, cyber capabilities, and the future of OpenAI’s latest model GPT-5.5-Cyber with administration officials and lawmakers. He met with House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who described the discussions as productive.

OpenAI also released a policy blueprint outlining recommendations for a national AI safety framework. The document called for strengthening the Center for AI Standards and Innovation and creating a resilience plan for national security and public safety.

Later this month, Altman will attend the G7 conference in France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron, CNBC reports. The summit, held from June 15 to 17, will feature AI as a central topic as France seeks to expand its leadership in the technology sector.
