OpenAI to Reduce Microsoft's Revenue Share by 2030
OpenAI plans to reduce the share of revenue it pays to Microsoft Corporation from 20% to 10% by 2030, according to The Information. This decision comes as OpenAI scales back a significant restructuring plan, allowing its nonprofit parent to retain control over the company.
The current agreement between OpenAI and Microsoft, which extends until 2030, involves a 20% revenue sharing arrangement. However, OpenAI has informed investors of its intention to decrease this percentage, aiming to share only 10% of its revenue with Microsoft and other commercial partners by the end of the decade.
Despite these changes, OpenAI remains committed to its collaboration with Microsoft, with plans to finalize the details of its recapitalization soon. Microsoft has not commented on the report, while OpenAI has not immediately responded to requests for comment.
