Mistral AI to Triple Singapore Workforce as It Expands Across Southeast Asia
Mistral AI will nearly triple its Singapore workforce from 40 to 100 employees by the end of 2026 as part of its plan to expand across Southeast Asia, according to The Business Times. The French company will use Singapore as its base to grow operations in Thailand, Malaysia, and other regional markets.
Chief executive Arthur Mensch said the company plans to hire engineers, sales, and operations staff, with a focus on local recruitment. To support skill transfer, Mistral will bring in employees from its European offices to train the Singapore team.
Mistral, founded in 2023 and valued at 11.7 billion euros, develops large language models available in both open source and proprietary versions. Its Singapore office, established in January 2025, focuses on AI sovereignty solutions that allow clients to deploy models on their own servers.
The company has already invested several tens of millions of dollars in its Singapore operations. Most of its local customers are in the public sector and financial services, making Singapore Mistral’s largest market in the Asia Pacific region.
