Mila, 5C, and Hypertec have announced a $250 million investment to establish a Sovereign AI Research Hub at Hypertec's LaSalle campus, aiming to bolster Canada's AI leadership.

Mila, 5C Group, and Hypertec have announced a strategic collaboration to enhance Canada's position in artificial intelligence. In a press release, the organizations revealed plans to invest $250 million in a Sovereign AI Research Hub at Hypertec's global headquarters in LaSalle.

The new facility will provide Canadian researchers, startups, and entrepreneurs with secure access to advanced computing resources, featuring up to 3 MW of AI infrastructure capacity. This includes the latest GPUs from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel, operated under stringent regulatory and security standards.

The initiative aims to accelerate AI innovation by offering state-of-the-art computing infrastructure, supporting the development and scaling of new AI applications. The project is also committed to sustainability, employing technologies like direct-to-chip cooling and heat recovery to reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.

The collaboration is expected to create over 50 highly skilled jobs across various sectors, including academia, healthcare, and finance, further solidifying Montreal's role as a center of AI excellence.
