Keeper Security Study Finds AI Growth Accelerating Identity Sprawl
Keeper Security announced in a press release the results of a global study showing that rapid AI adoption is increasing identity sprawl and creating new security challenges. The report, titled "Identity Security at Machine Speed," surveyed 3,200 cybersecurity and IT decision makers across multiple regions.
According to the findings, 89 percent of IT leaders said managing the expanding identity footprint is difficult, while 96 percent reported that disconnected or poorly integrated tools are creating exploitable security gaps. The study found that detection of credential misuse lags in most organizations, with 72 percent unable to identify unauthorized privileged access immediately.
AI expansion is also driving growth in non-human identities, with 43 percent of respondents listing AI related identity management as a top governance gap. In the United States, that figure rises to 51 percent. Over half of participants expressed concern about employees exposing sensitive data through AI systems, and 42 percent cited a lack of visibility into employee AI tool usage.
Keeper Security’s CEO Darren Guccione stated that machine and service accounts now often outnumber human users, and many organizations lack the tools to govern them effectively. The company’s KeeperPAM platform combines password, secrets, and session management with AI based threat detection to address these challenges.
