Info-Tech Research Group Finds 94% of Developers Report Productivity Gains from AI

July 21, 2026
A new study by Info-Tech Research Group shows that 94% of developers have seen productivity gains from AI, though governance and security maturity still lag behind adoption.

Info-Tech Research Group announced in a press release that 94% of developers report productivity gains from AI, while 83% note a reduction in defects. The findings are part of the firm's AI Adoption and Impact Study: AI in Software Development June 2026 Top 10 Insights.

The research indicates that AI is now embedded across the software development lifecycle, changing how applications are planned, built, tested, and delivered. However, it also shows that AI generated code often requires more testing and that security remains a primary barrier to broader adoption.

According to the study, many organizations are struggling to align governance, review processes, and security controls with the rapid pace of AI integration. Legacy code continues to pose challenges, limiting the effectiveness of AI in real-world development workflows.
