Istari Digital Appoints Former AWS Executive Mark Ryland as Vice President of AI

Istari Digital has named Mark Ryland, a former AWS Chief Solutions Architect, as its new Vice President of Artificial Intelligence to lead its agentic AI infrastructure efforts for aerospace, defense, and other critical sectors.

Istari Digital has appointed Mark Ryland as Vice President of Artificial Intelligence, announced in a press release. Ryland will lead the company’s efforts to advance secure AI agent infrastructure for industries such as aerospace and defense.

Ryland brings nearly 30 years of experience in cloud security and enterprise software. He spent 14 years at Amazon Web Services, including six years as Chief Solutions Architect for the Worldwide Public Sector and eight years as Founder and Director of the Office of the CISO in AWS Security. Before that, he held senior roles at Microsoft, including Global Head of Standards and U.S. National Standards Officer.

According to Istari Digital CEO Will Roper, the company focuses on building infrastructure that allows AI systems to operate safely across organizations with strict data boundaries. Ryland said that Istari is working on enabling connected AI systems while maintaining trust and accountability.

Istari Digital develops decentralized AI infrastructure that connects data and AI agents across organizational and classification boundaries without requiring data consolidation. The company serves sectors where operational reliability and data security are critical.
