VANEA Defence Unveils ATOMZA Drone Defence System for Civilian Operators

VANEA Defence has unveiled ATOMZA, a drone defence system for civilian operators that uses directed photonic radiation to disable drone optical sensors without destroying the aircraft.

Munich company VANEA Defence announced ATOMZA, a drone defence system for civilian operators, in a press release. The company said the system will make its public debut at Drone Days in Bremen, Germany, on Aug. 27 and 28.

ATOMZA uses a non kinetic optical effector that applies directed photonic radiation to disable a drone's optical sensors without destroying the aircraft. VANEA Defence said the system is designed for private organisations that do not have sovereign enforcement powers, including airports, critical infrastructure operators, event organisers, and security sensitive sites.

The company said ATOMZA is being tested and validated under operational conditions by security authorities and critical infrastructure operators in Germany. Additional trials with military partners are planned in the coming weeks, and commercial availability for civilian operators starts immediately.

VANEA Defence said ATOMZA is built on its proprietary AI model, which is trained and operated in Europe. The company said the AI layer supports detection across its counter drone systems, including identifying threats and decoys within drone swarms.
