India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has launched AIKosha and the AI Compute Portal, marking a significant step in advancing the country's AI capabilities. These initiatives were unveiled during the anniversary celebration of the IndiaAI Mission in New Delhi.

AIKosha is a secured platform designed to provide a comprehensive repository of datasets, models, and use cases to foster AI innovation. It includes AI sandbox capabilities, offering an integrated development environment with tools and tutorials to support researchers and developers.

The AI Compute Portal aims to provide accessible and affordable AI compute, network, storage, platform, and cloud services. Initially, it will offer access to 10,000 GPUs, with plans to add 8,693 more, providing AI compute services at subsidized rates to support startups, researchers, and enterprises.

These initiatives are part of a broader effort to democratize AI access and enhance India's position in the global AI landscape. The IndiaAI Mission, approved in March 2024, focuses on strategic programs and partnerships to strengthen AI-driven research, innovation, and skill development across the country.
