ICEYE Launches Machine Learning-Powered Flood Impact Product
ICEYE has introduced its new Flood Rapid Impact (FRI) product, which provides automated, near-real-time flood data for emergency managers, energy and utility organizations, insurers, and banks, announced in a press release. This product is part of ICEYE's expanding suite of multi-peril data solutions.
The FRI product delivers detailed floodwater extent data within approximately 6-12 hours of the first signs of a flood event. This rapid data delivery is made possible through ICEYE's synthetic aperture radar (SAR) constellation, which allows for flood monitoring day or night and through clouds. The data is analyzed using machine learning to quantify the extent of flooding and is made available via the ICEYE Solutions Event Intelligence Hub.
ICEYE's in-house meteorology team monitors global weather conditions around the clock to anticipate potential flooding and task satellites for imaging accordingly. The FRI product provides users with actionable flood intelligence, supporting informed decision-making for emergency responders and insurers. It complements ICEYE's existing Flood Insights data products by offering a frequently updated view of flood development.
