ICAC Hosts Global AI Training for Anti-Corruption Agencies

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has completed its first global training program on artificial intelligence and technology in anti-corruption, bringing together 22 agencies from 16 jurisdictions to explore AI tools for investigations.

ICAC has concluded its first international training programme focused on artificial intelligence and technology in anti-corruption work, announced in a press release. The 10-day course, titled “Professional Development Programme on Empowering Integrity: Mastering Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Technologies in Anti-Corruption,” was held in Hong Kong and jointly organised with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and its GlobE Network.

Representatives from 22 anti-corruption agencies across 16 jurisdictions, including India, Malaysia, Nigeria, and South Africa, participated in the training. The programme aimed to promote collaboration among global agencies on the use of advanced technologies in combating corruption.

During the course, ICAC experts demonstrated the use of AI and digital tools for facial matching, automated transcription, summarisation, and covert surveillance. These technologies were presented as methods to enhance evidence collection, streamline investigations, and improve the efficiency of anti-corruption operations.
