Huawei Cloud has announced an ambitious plan to develop 30,000 AI professionals in Malaysia over the next three years. This initiative, part of the Malaysia AI Talent Programme, was unveiled at the Huawei Cloud AI Ecosystem Summit APAC 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.

The programme aims to nurture a diverse group of AI talents, including students, government officials, and industry leaders, while also fostering 200 local AI partners. The initiative is designed to build an inclusive AI ecosystem across the Asia-Pacific region, extending beyond individual training to include business partnerships and technology transfer.

Huawei Cloud's CEO in Malaysia, Simon Sun, emphasized the company's commitment to encouraging AI investments in Malaysia. The programme will involve engagements, knowledge transfers, and collaborations with top AI companies to spur homegrown AI innovation and solutions.

This initiative aligns with Malaysia's broader national digitalisation efforts, as the country develops its AI Technology Action Plan 2026-2030. The plan aims to ensure the ethical and sustainable adoption of AI technology across key economic sectors.
