Hexion and Smartech have introduced SmartQuality, an AI-powered tool designed to enhance efficiency and quality in wood panel manufacturing, announced at LIGNA 2025.

Hexion and Smartech have unveiled SmartQuality, a new AI-powered tool aimed at transforming wood panel manufacturing. Announced in a press release, SmartQuality was launched at LIGNA 2025 in Hannover, Germany, a premier event for woodworking and wood processing.

SmartQuality provides mill operators with real-time data on board quality, enabling them to make informed decisions that can increase line speed by up to 3%. The AI system continuously learns from each board produced, enhancing operational efficiency and product consistency over time. This tool is part of Hexion's broader strategy to integrate AI into industrial chemistry and manufacturing, positioning the company as a full-service partner in the industry.

The introduction of SmartQuality marks a significant step in Hexion's evolution from a materials provider to a solutions-oriented partner, leveraging AI to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
