At an investment promotion conference in Hangzhou, eight emerging technology companies, dubbed the 'New Eight Steeds', were highlighted for their roles in advancing fields such as smart glasses, chips, space computing, embodied AI, and biomanufacturing.

Hangzhou's Investment Promotion Bureau announced in a press release that eight technology startups, referred to locally as the "New Eight Steeds," were featured at the May 2026 "Fortunate Meeting Hangzhou • Dialogue with the Future" Investment Promotion Conference and High Quality Development Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The selected companies represent Hangzhou's focus on advanced industrial technology. They include Lingban Technology, which combines AI with augmented reality for smart glasses; Star.Vision, integrating AI with aerospace systems; Jinglianwen Technology, specializing in data foundations for AI; Xynova, developing robotic hands; Sunrise, focusing on cost efficient AI reasoning; Nanocorechip, building domestic computing power infrastructure; BIBO, creating intelligent automotive chassis systems; and Bota Biosciences, applying AI in biomanufacturing.

These firms are seen as part of Hangzhou's shift from software applications toward core industrial technology, emphasizing chips, algorithms, data, biological systems, and space infrastructure. The initiative is supported by local state owned funds, industrial capital from major Chinese cities, and investments from companies such as Xiaomi, Lenovo, and ByteDance.
