Google Research Introduces SensorLM for Wearable Data Interpretation

Jul 28, 2025
Google Research has unveiled SensorLM, a new model family designed to translate wearable sensor data into natural language, enhancing understanding of personal health metrics.

Google Research has introduced SensorLM, a new family of sensor-language foundation models, announced on their website. SensorLM is trained on nearly 60 million hours of multimodal sensor data, aiming to bridge the gap between raw sensor signals and their real-world meanings.

The models are pre-trained on data from over 103,000 individuals, collected from devices like Fitbit and Pixel Watch. This extensive dataset allows SensorLM to generate human-readable descriptions from complex sensor data, offering new capabilities in personalized health insights.

SensorLM employs a combination of contrastive learning and generative pre-training to interpret and generate text from sensor data. This enables zero-shot classification of activities and enhances cross-modal retrieval, allowing users to query sensor data using natural language.

The research highlights SensorLM's potential in advancing human activity recognition and healthcare applications, setting a new standard in sensor data understanding.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
