Google Commits More Than $6 Million to Singapore AI Research
Google is giving more than $6 million in grants to the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, as detailed in a company blog post. The grants cover AI for science, compute efficiency, AI safety and research capacity, alongside Google's new research hub in Singapore.
National University of Singapore will receive $1.5 million for research using AI models and data science to study Alzheimer's disease. A separate $500,000 grant will support work on computing efficiency, model serving and regional language processing.
Nanyang Technological University will receive $340,000 for four studies covering AI safety, evaluation methods, systems involving multiple agents and privacy preserving watermarking for large language models. Another $750,000 will fund research capacity and infrastructure across Southeast Asia.
Google.org and Google DeepMind will also provide $3 million to INSEAD's Thrive Lab in Singapore. The lab will study how technological change affects education, workplaces, communities and personal relationships.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
