Gizmo Reaches 13 Million Users and Raises $22 Million Series A
AI learning app Gizmo has surpassed 13 million users and secured $22 million in Series A funding, according to TechCrunch. The platform, launched in 2021, converts students’ notes into interactive study materials and now operates in more than 120 countries.
The funding round was led by Shine Capital, with participation from Ada Ventures, Seek Investments, GSV, and NFX, which previously led Gizmo’s $3.5 million seed round. CEO Petros Christodoulou said the company plans to use the funds to expand its engineering and AI teams and to grow its presence in the U.S. college market.
Before the raise, Gizmo had seven employees and now aims to scale to around 30. The app targets teenagers and young adults, using game mechanics such as leaderboards, streaks, and challenges to maintain engagement. It competes with other micro-learning platforms including Anki, Quizlet, and Knowt.
