Epic Highlights AI and Genomics at HIMSS 2025
Epic has showcased its latest advancements in AI, genomics, and interoperability at the HIMSS 2025 Global Health Conference and Exhibition, announced in a press release. The company highlighted its generative AI tools that enhance clinician workflows, patient experiences, and revenue cycle processes.
Epic's platform integrates AI to provide data-driven insights across clinical, administrative, and patient-facing workflows. This includes AI agents that autonomously perform tasks such as chatting with patients about care goals and scheduling tasks in advance.
The company also introduced new specifications for ambient voice recognition to improve clinician documentation and announced plans for native multimodal capabilities. These capabilities will process video input, synthesize voice into documentation, and analyze genomic data.
Epic continues to lead in interoperability, with over 2,000 hospitals and 50,000 clinics preparing to go live on the federal TEFCA framework for health data exchange. The company also supports nearly 800 patient-facing apps and offers over 750 no-cost APIs and interfaces.
Additionally, Epic's Cosmos dataset now integrates genomic sequencing data, providing point-of-care insights and fostering precision medicine. The company also announced a new Clinical Trials Management System and an Enterprise Resource Planning suite to enhance operational efficiency.
