Eni and UAE Collaborate on 1GW Data Centers in Italy
Eni has signed agreements with UAE companies MGX and G42 to develop 1GW of data centers in Italy, announced in a press release. The collaboration focuses on building state-of-the-art data centers powered by blue energy, a low-carbon energy source generated by natural gas power plants with CO2 emissions captured and stored.
The first project will be located in Ferrera Erbognone, Italy, and will be developed in two phases, each with a capacity of up to 500MW. This initiative is part of Eni's broader strategy to enhance its data infrastructure while supporting sustainable energy solutions.
Additionally, Eni has partnered with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC - Masdar and Taqa Transmission to establish long-term power off-take arrangements in Italy. This agreement involves transmitting renewable energy generated in Albania to Italy through a subsea interconnection, further emphasizing Eni's commitment to renewable energy and cross-border collaboration.
