Elix, Inc. and the University of Vienna signed a joint research agreement on July 29, 2026, to apply AI technologies to drug discovery. The project will involve the research group led by Associate Professor Julien Orts at the university.

The collaboration combines Elix's chemoinformatics methods and AI molecular generation with the Orts group's work in structural dynamics and NMR validated molecular interactions. The group studies biomacromolecule structures, dynamics, and interactions, including protein conformational switches and allostery in signaling.

The project will focus on designing and developing novel compounds for targets that are traditionally considered undruggable. These targets include intrinsically disordered proteins and proteins involved in epigenetic signaling and cancer. The work will combine AI predictions with experimental atomic resolution data for structure based drug design.
