EdgeConneX Plans 1GW Data Center Campus in Sweden
EdgeConneX plans to enter the Swedish market with a new data center campus in Skellefteå, announced in a press release. The site will be acquired from Lyten and is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand digital infrastructure capacity across the Nordics.
The proposed facility could reach up to one gigawatt of capacity and will primarily be powered by renewable energy. It is intended to support future AI and cloud computing workloads, making it one of the largest data center projects in Europe once completed.
EQT, which backs EdgeConneX through its infrastructure fund, said the development aligns with its goal of strengthening Europe’s digital backbone. Local authorities in Skellefteå welcomed the project, noting its potential to enhance the region’s innovation and digital growth.
