Clio Completes $1B vLex Acquisition and Raises $500M Series G Funding

Clio has finalized its $1 billion acquisition of vLex and secured $500 million in Series G funding, marking the largest M&A deal in legal technology and strengthening its AI-driven legal platform.

Clio has completed its US$1 billion acquisition of vLex, marking the largest merger and acquisition in legal technology history, announced in a press release. Alongside the acquisition, Clio raised US$500 million in Series G funding, valuing the company at US$5 billion.

The acquisition combines Clio’s legal operating system with vLex’s Vincent AI, which is powered by one of the world’s most comprehensive global legal databases. Together, they form what Clio calls the Intelligent Legal Work Platform, designed to connect the business and practice of law through AI.

The funding round includes a US$350 million debt facility led by Blackstone and funds managed by Blue Owl Capital. Clio stated that the new capital will support further AI innovation and strategic mergers and acquisitions within the legal technology sector.
