Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and NVIDIA Expand Partnership on Virtual Cell Models
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and NVIDIA have expanded their collaboration to accelerate life science research by developing and scaling virtual cell models, announced in a press release. The partnership aims to enhance the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative’s Virtual Cells Platform (VCP) by integrating NVIDIA’s AI and accelerated computing technologies.
The collaboration will scale biological data processing to petabyte levels, enabling analysis of billions of cellular observations for next-generation model development. This effort will support the creation of large, harmonized datasets and robust infrastructure for publishing and exploring biological data.
The partnership also focuses on advancing AI-driven biological models such as rBio, GREmLN, and TranscriptFormer. CZI and NVIDIA will work together to expand these models across multiple biological scales using GPU-accelerated tools.
Through CZI’s open-source Virtual Cells Platform, researchers can now access datasets, AI models, and benchmarks, including NVIDIA Clara Open Models like MONAI-based imaging models and CodonFM. The platform also includes cz-benchmarks, a Python package co-developed with NVIDIA to streamline model evaluation and improvement.
